As we stated yesterday, we have finally took a stance on the SOPA issue. Instead of putting 200 posts about the subject we are putting a summary of everything that is going on once a week. So here is your weekly dosage of SOPA opera.

Other important development is the representatives decision to drop the provision that would have internet service providers (ISP) blocking access to websites that violated SOPA, which is one of many issues with the bill. The decision to remove this section stirred quite some negative effect, including delaying the scheduled hearing that was suppose to take place on January 18.
Lastly, even Obama’s administration have decided to stand against the bill. Saying that the bill reduces freedom of expression and risks undermines innovation “we will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet.”
All in all good week for those standing against the bill, but do not forget that the Electronic Software Association (ESA) which represents 34 publishers/developers including the big 3, still supports the bill. In case you didn’t know the ESA is the company behind E3, and parent company of the ESRB.
These are the major SOPA news for this week, tune in next week when more details about this bill unveils. If you want to take action against SOPA or learn more about the bill head over to Stop American Censorship website.
