It’s almost impossible to have a Zelda game released and not have it even as a nominee for game of the year in the year it comes out. With such high expectations, especially as this is the series’ 25th anniversary, Skyward Sword was put under a lot of pressure from fans. But fear not, Nintendo does not disappoint with this entry to the series.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Skyward Sword respectfully deserves the title as the best Wii game ever created. Any fan of the series can respect the formula already established, and admire the significant changes and loops added. The game is the best example of how well Motion Plus can be integrated into games. Swordplay is more than a blast, and Nintendo has truly outdone themselves on puzzles and level design.
If you haven’t played a Zelda game before, Skyward Sword is an incredible place to start. It may not win our award for game of the year, but we will be giving it the award for best adventure game and best Wii game of 2011. Will it win our award of best Wii game of all time? Find out in 2012.
