Take the formula of one of the most beloved games of this generation and add more to create a better game and you got Super Mario Galaxy 2. Perhaps one of the most innovative Mario games to date, Super Mario Galaxy showed us that Mario has what it takes to take us outside of the stratosphere, can Galaxy 2 do the same?

It is really hard to put the controller down when you start playing this game. Lets just say that my boss was not happy that I was late to work (3 days in a row). The game is also more challenging this time around, it can easily take you 30 minutes to get some stars in the game, for those who likes a challenge that’s great because this is one challenging game. Controls are what you expect from a Mario game, while some may not like having to use the Wii motion controller to control Mario, the game does a good job to make sure it’s not frustrating at all.

This is one of the games that almost makes me want to complain about a Wii HD, it definitely pushes the puny Wii hardware to its limits. The music is great, you will hear lots of remixes from some old school Mario games on top of some new ones. The formula for Super Mario Galaxy is definitely there, and while the game does a good job of adding new elements such as Yoshi, new suits, and even crazier levels you can’t help but feel like your playing the original Galaxy, but is that really a bad thing?

Depending on how you play it will take about 10 hours to beat the game. The game is definitely more difficult than the previous incarnation, which only adds to the amount of time you will be playing it. The real challenge however is getting all the stars in the game, some stars are very hard to get which adds to the challenge. After beating the game a new world will be unlocked and this world will definitely put your skills to the test.

If you are a hard core Mario fan or you just like to complete 100% of a game you need to buy this game, if you are not either one of those things you should still buy this game. This is one of those titles that makes you proud to say you own a Wii. Galaxy 2 is the perfect sequel to one of the most beloved games of this generation of gaming. And while it may feel a lot like the first Galaxy we wouldn’t want it any other way. A must have for any Wii owner.
